Summary The Medical Receptionist / Patient Service Representative position in the physician practice provides clerical support to the practice and providers on a regular basis.

The PSR is responsible for appropriate management of the physician schedule, assist callers and visitors to the office, patient registration, charge entry, end of day reconciliation, obtaining payments from patients, and collects referrals and surgical authorizations.

The PSR is to provide excellent customer service using professionalism and proficiency.

Must be a person who pays attention to detail and likes to be a team player.

This position is cross trained for and fills in for other members of the team as needed.

Responsibilities The Medical Receptionist is responsible for all front desk operations, which include, but are not limited to: * Scheduling patients * Answering phones * Scanning medical records * Triage patient phone calls for severity/importance * Collection of insurance information and verification or benefits * Charge entry and payment posting.

Requirements EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE * Education and Work Experience: * High School Diploma or GED * Required: 1-2 Years experience in healthcare setting * Preferred: 3-5 years experience in related field or specialty practice SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS * License Requirements: * N/A * Certification Requirements: * N/A * Age Specific Care Provided For: * Adolescents * Adults * Geriatrics * Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel * Microsoft Outlook * Meditech (if applicable to position) * Epic (if applicable to position) * Performance Manager/NetLearning * Computer proficiency and technical aptitude * Other Requirements * Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.

* Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

* Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.

* Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.

* Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

* Computer skills, customer service, organization, paying attention to detail, accurate in data entry, ability to work as a team member, answer multiple phone lines (multi task with a pleasant manner), and get along with other co-workers.

* Certificate of completion of medical terminology course preferred or proven expertise in medical terminology.

* Must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm, with 55 wpm preferred.

* Must be able to travel to other locations as directed by management.
