The Rehabilitation Secretary provides secretarial support for the rehabilitation department. The rehab secretary will display good judgement, professional behavior and knowledge of hospital policies. This position requires strong secretarial skills, computer skills (data reporting) with proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, as well as a high degree of self-motivation, time management with excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and telephone, skills with careful attention to detail.
Salary Range:
$19.50- $25.77 an hour
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
The secretary will be responsible for assisting with the outpatient speech program through selecting patients from SLP work queue based on established criteria, obtaining insurance authorization, scheduling patient appointments, checking patients in and out, copay collection, end of day close out tasks. Rehab secretary will also be responsible for answering and returning phone calls and faxes throughout the day. This position will be responsible for accurate and timely documentation and communication in patient charts and referrals. This position will help support rehab department team member when needed and assist with tasks as assigned. In addition, provides administrative support to the rehab manager for maintaining department functions.

Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED, prefer A.A.S. in Secretarial Science; or equivalent experience.
Experience: at least 1 year of secretarial experience, demonstrating ability to deal tactfully and effectively with employees, outside agencies, and the general public.
License/Certification Required:
Skills: Computer proficient with strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word and Excel are critical. Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail and grammar are essential. Candidate must demonstrate efficiency in prioritizing assignments and skill in proactively resolving problems. Self-starter with good customer service and interpersonal skills who can flex with the environment and who also has great attention to detail with a “can-do” attitude.
