Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Linux Administrator to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
This is a Contract-to-Permanent position where you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based systems to support research-specific computing needs.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in virtualization, storage solutions, and security, and will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to develop scalable, on-premises computing environments.
Must be local, this is an onsite role in Albuquerque.
Responsibilities:
• Assess the current computing environment to identify research-specific needs and design optimized system configurations.
• Implement and streamline software setups to migrate existing systems to upgraded environments.
• Evaluate and select virtualization technologies that align with research and security requirements.
• Collaborate with vendors and procurement teams to acquire necessary hardware and software.
• Architect and maintain virtualization and storage solutions that support virtual machines with high redundancy.
• Design and implement network and security solutions for physical and virtual servers across multiple locations.
• Build, manage, and troubleshoot Linux-based virtual machines designed to support research databases.
• Ensure systems meet project-specific requirements and adhere to best practices for performance and security.
• Provide ongoing maintenance and support for Linux systems, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational goals.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux system administration.
• Proficiency in Red Hat Linux (RHEL) and related technologies.
• Strong knowledge of server virtualization tools such as VMware, KVM, and Hypervisor.
• Experience with storage and virtualization architecture, including redundancy solutions.
• Familiarity with Oracle and research database environments.
• Solid understanding of network and security principles for server and storage setups.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams.
• Background in computer programming is a plus.
