Law firm located in West Los Angeles is looking to hire a Legal File Clerk. This position is 100% on site and they are looking for candidates who live 5-10 miles from 90025. Position pays: $25.00
The File Clerk will be responsible for office filing, supporting attorneys by performing a variety of administrative duties, including drafting legal correspondence, answering phones, greeting visitors, and communicating with attorneys, clients and court personnel. Answer, screen and respond to telephone calls and routine correspondence. File, organize, scan, copy, and serve legal documents. Keeping files up to date, following a filing system, and organizing records, such as letters, legal documents, case files, correspondence, invoices and memoranda, according to that system. Assemble, serve and file legal documents for delivery to third parties, courts, administrative agencies, in conformance with the applicable format, rules and/or requirements of the network, agency or court. Must be familiar with legal terminology like pleadings and discovery. Must have worked in a law firm for at least a year or so. Experience with handling pre-filing procedures (signature verification, proofs of service, cover sheets, e-filing procedures), and case preparation (exhibit assembly, bates stamping, document indexing). Able to work as a team with attorneys and staff
Preferred: Associate Degree in Legal Studies or related field, Prior experience in a law firm preferred. Familiarity with legal documents and terminology and proficiency with MS Office, Adobe.
