LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Payroll Associate to work for a great company in the Farmingdale, NY area.
This is a hybrid position after a few months of training. Must live commutable to the Farmingdale, NY area.
The Payroll Associate will be responsible for processing weekly and biweekly payroll for US and Canada employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This role involves coordinating with various departments, handling sensitive information, and assisting with monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Process weekly and biweekly payroll for US and Canada employees, including uploading timesheets into JD Edwards.
Coordinate with local and field offices for timesheet approvals and edit corrections.
Audit and review new hires, terminations, employee changes, and tax set-ups to ensure accurate payroll processing.
Perform JDE calculations from gross to net payroll, create journal entries, and transmit wage payments and ACH bank files.
Set up union and rate information by reviewing Collective Bargaining Agreements and updating JDE tables as applicable. Coordinate with local offices, project managers, and the legal department for missing data.
Review and set up garnishments in accordance with state laws, coordinating with the Legal Department.
Audit and verify payroll in accordance with state, local, provincial, and federal wages.
Assist in identifying, analyzing, and resolving payroll and wage and hour issues for employees.
Run ad hoc reports for business needs, including workers' compensation, accounting reconciliations, and miscellaneous reports needed by management.
Handle sensitive and confidential information, ensuring compliance with company policies, union contracts, and applicable legal requirements.
Prepare Accounts Payable check requests to remit payments to third-party agencies.
Cross-train and act as a payroll processor back-up for other payrolls while team members are out of the office.
Monthly End and Quarterly Processes/Account Reconciliations:
Reconcile end-of-month and quarterly reports for workers' compensation.
Submit monthly payments for unions and quarterly payments for Washington workers' compensation, if applicable.
Reconcile GL accounts against vouchers for monthly and quarterly payments.
Manage ADP quarterly tax filing processes and reconciliations for US and Canada.
Work on projects and system testing as needed to comply with regulations or union set-up.
Maintain business registration and research pending tax agency questions for state and SUI payroll accounts.
Perform quarterly Washington workers' compensation reconciliation and remit payments.
Assist with printing wage reports for union audits, BDO audits, and workers' compensation audits.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-state and multi-country environment.
Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations in the US and Canada.
Proficiency in JDE and ADP payroll systems.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll processing.
Pay Details: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour
