Cornerstone Building Brands is looking for a Night Shift Distribution Center Manager. This role will supervise, organize, lead, direct and control all distribution and fabrication functions in order to achieve highest shipping standards possible at lowest cost possible without sacrificing quality and safety standards. This role ensures that all receivings are properly documented and delivered to appropriate departments and maintains adequate manpower to achieve daily scheduled outbound shipments. Our supervisors are responsible for sustaining, enforcing, and improving floor conditions, Company policies, department procedures, and process improvements through associate development and communication.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures execution of daily shipping schedule based upon customer orders and product availability
Ensures that all responsible areas work in a safe manner. Train all associates on safe working habits. Periodic JSA/ SWI (Job Safety Analysis/Standard Work Instructions) reviews with associates generally completed yearly
Daily audits required to help understand areas in need of improvement. Audits include 5S activities (including audits, assignments & associate involvement, teamwork with other shifts to ensure all areas of the department are covered, suggestions for improvement & sustainment), associate adherence to policies/procedures, associate performance trends, variance, labor requirements, etc.
Recommends measures to improve shipping methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to other supervisors/department manager
Monitors finished goods inventory levels and addresses/adjusts Inventory Control and Production Scheduling when product is required to complete an order
Ensures outbound loads are inspected for correct count and mix, correct labeling, and completed paperwork. Conducts visual quality inspections to ensure that cartons are loaded according to established loading patterns and are free of visible defects
Monitors damage to inbound freight to minimize in-plant damages and expedite replacement of damaged materials
Establishes and implements receiving procedures
Monitors receiving log to ensure that inbound freight is properly accounted for on a daily basis
Ensures that raw materials needed for production are available upon demand and properly stored
Develops and maintains efficient warehousing storage plans for raw materials and finished goods inventory. Maintains housekeeping standards to maximize safety and space utilized
Develops and utilizes a forklift training program and limits use of forklifts to certified operators. Monitors forklift operations to ensure safety and minimize damage to product and equipment
Maintains an adequate workforce to accomplish daily shipping commitments. Hires, evaluates, motivates, counsels, disciplines, and dismisses employees consistent with policies and procedures
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists associates in solving problems
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals. Creates & coordinates training program for all associates and counsels them regarding job performance
Maintains time, shipping, and receipt records
Monitors the flow of all department paperwork, including shipping, receiving, warehousing, etc. and ensures that all required reporting is completed in a timely and efficient manner
Performs activities of associates supervised to have a good understanding of all job assignments/requirements
Translate and communicate all tool box meetings, emails (intended for all associates), etc. with all respective associates
Participates and encourages participation of 5S principles on production floor. Audits and sustains highest 5S conditions possible through coaching, training and associate accountability
Analyze all problem areas such as quality, safety, 5S, operating costs and production efficiencies and set course of action to improve
Advises and supports Customer Service Department with answering questions, shipping schedule, including delays due to lack of product, responding to change adds, communicating the results of any reported shipping variances and alternate projected ship dates
Performs other duties as assignedQualifications
High school graduate/GED required; some college or business school coursework preferred
Minimum of three (3) years experience in a shipping/warehousing/inventory control position; two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity
Good human relations with the ability to work closely with others
Good knowledge and execution of all Basic Principles or appropriate leadership guidelines
Good knowledge of all policies/procedures/JSA documents
Above average mathematical/numerical orientation required
Must have some computer skills to allow the usage of company email
Must have leadership skills to enable the development of teamwork on respective shift
Must be able to perform daily paperwork including production paperwork, associate attendance records/performance records, etc.
Able to perform under any given working conditions while maintaining a positive leadership role
Ability to operate forklift truck equipment also required
