TITLE: Welder
DEPARTMENT: Exhaust
LOCATION: LaCrosse, WI
REPORTS TO: Exhaust Supervisor
Job Summary: Responsible for joining metal parts using various welding techniques including MIG, and/or TIG. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, follow safety protocols, and produce strong, clean welds that meet specifications. This role plays a critical part in the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of metal structures and machinery across various projects.
Essential Functions:
Interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents to determine welding requirements.
Set up components for welding according to specifications.
Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick, Arc, etc.) safely and efficiently.
Inspect and test welds to ensure structural soundness and quality.
Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time.
Observe and inspect parts to ensure quality specifications are met
Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices
Ensures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement methods, and elimination of wasteful practices
Complies with all PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed shoes
Assists in other production areas as needed or related activities as assigned by supervisor
Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees
Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship preferred
Proven experience as a welder (minimum 1-3 years)
Proficiency with welding tools and techniques
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
Well organized and self-directed
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is a plus.
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
