Job Description

The Production Control Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling the flow of materials and production processes to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality aerospace products. This role involves managing production schedules, optimizing resource allocation, and driving efficiency improvements within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Production Control Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, quality, and procurement, to achieve production goals and maintain customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Production Planning and Scheduling:

Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and capacity planning.

Utilize MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Infor) to plan and manage material requirements.

Prioritize production orders and allocate resources (labor, equipment, materials) to meet delivery deadlines.

Monitor and adjust production schedules to accommodate changes in demand, capacity, or material availability.

Materials Management:

Manage inventory levels to optimize working capital and ensure uninterrupted production flow.

Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies.

Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, including cycle counting and variance analysis.

Track material usage, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.

Production Control and Execution:

Oversee the execution of production plans, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.

Monitor work-in-process (WIP) inventory and track production progress.

Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, delays, and other issues that may impact on-time delivery.

Coordinate with production supervisors and operators to ensure efficient workflow and resource utilization.

Process Improvement:

Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize resource utilization.

Analyze production data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and track performance against goals.

Implement lean manufacturing principles and techniques to streamline processes and eliminate waste.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products and processes.

Work with quality assurance to ensure products meet required specifications and standards (e.g., AS9100).

Communicate with customer service and sales to provide accurate delivery information and address customer needs.

Coordinate with procurement to resolve supplier issues and ensure material availability.

Team Leadership and Management:

Supervise and mentor production control staff, including planners and schedulers.

Set performance goals, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering).

5+ years of experience in production control, materials management, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.

Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and production planning principles.

Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP).

Experience with lean manufacturing principles and techniques.

Experience in a company with revenues in the $10M-$50M range.
