Job Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for all Human Resource-related functions within the Latrobe facility. This individual leads a team of two in ensuring the strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives. Using their knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices this role partners heavily with the Plant Manager and operations teams to promote a positive, high performing environment for all employees. The Human Resources Manager reports into the CHRO and will also support comprehensive improvement projects to align the site’s local initiatives with companywide programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates the organization’s employee relations program
Translates the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans; communicates those plans with their team to ensure appropriate execution
Coaches and guides business leaders on HR technical advice and knowledge such as progressive discipline, LOA, and attendance
Maintains awareness of changing laws, regulations and guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance; communicates these updates to their team and facility leaders as needed
Identifies opportunities for continuous learning for their HR team
Collaborates with the Talent Acquisition Leader on staffing process including recruitment, screening and interviewing, job offers
Works with the site Training Manager to ensure new employee orientation, safety trainings and any other employee development/training opportunities are provided
Measures and analyzes turnover rates, absenteeism, and staffing levels
Manages and promotes retention initiatives with facility leadership
Investigates employee issues and conflicts to bring resolution
Assists with determining appropriate staffing levels in coordination with operations managers
Acts as a key business partner and change agent to promote a high performing work environment
Works with department managers and supervisors to set performance goals, monitor progress, and provide feedback
Leads annual open enrollment efforts including employee communications; works with the Benefits Manager to ensure appropriate delivery to employees
Ensure accuracy of all Human Resources records and maintain compliance with record keeping and retention policies
Supports succession planning process to ensure the right talent for key roles
Manages day-to-day labor relations matters and disputes through administration of collective bargaining agreement and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations
Represents the Company at personnel hearings related to UI, Work Comp, Union Contracts, etc
Divides time between production facility and off-site warehouse to connect with employees and provide support to management teams as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related discipline
Related professional certifications, preferred
Minimum of 7 years work experience as an HR leader, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Strong Generalist background
Experience working with labor unions
Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations
Experience coaching and mentoring a team
Strong knowledge of HR related metrics and best practices
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage and build effective interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization
Strong knowledge of MS Office software, especially MS Excel
Experience working within an HRIS and other HR related systems
Must be able to commute between local sites and attend off-site community events as needed
Ability to work a flexible schedule to support a 24/7 employee population
