The Office of Physical Plant at Phillips Academy seeks a Full Time Heating System Technician.

Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4pm, Overtime required as necessary and participation in mandatory on call rotation.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Under general supervision, will maintain and install boilers and heating systems in various buildings on campus.

This position requires proficiency in residential and commercial hot water and steam boilers, medium and low-pressure central steam system operation and maintenance, mechanical equipment controls, and a working knowledge of all trades that make up mechanical and plumbing systems.

The ability to perform repairs on steam piping, steam traps, radiators, PRV, boilers, and other mechanical systems, located in buildings, in underground vaults, and confined spaces are some of the essential duties of this position.

The nature of this position is reactionary and responds to the requests of the campus community.

Desired Skills and Experience

Applicants must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, computer skills, and experience in reading construction documents, shop drawings, layout work and material lists.

Physical ability to perform all job functions as required in a facilities setting on a boarding high school campus.

Oil Burner Technician Certificate preferred and/or a Massachusetts Journeyman Plumbing License or Sprinkler fitter license would be a plus for this position.

When emergencies and/or extreme weather conditions occur, the functions of this position may be deemed essential, and employees must report to work and/or remain on duty during their regularly scheduled work hours or the work hours designated by their supervisors. Must have and use personal vehicle while performing job duties.
