Job Description

The Materials Supervisor ensures efficient management of purchased goods for optimal production and maintenance material availability. This role oversees receipt, disbursement, and inventory, including recordkeeping and daily storeroom activities. The Supervisor leads and develops material coordinators to maintain an effective materials management operation.

Materials Supervisor Duties:

Supervises, directs, and schedules the receiving, warehousing, and disbursement of purchased goods.

Manages and maintains accurate inventory records, ensuring adequate supplies of parts and materials to meet production and maintenance schedules.

Oversees day-to-day storeroom activities, ensuring organization, efficiency, and security.

Supervises, motivates, and trains material coordinators, promoting a positive and productive work environment.

Ensures efficient materials flow to support production and maintenance operations, minimizing delays and disruptions.

Implements and maintains effective inventory control procedures.

Participates in vendor negotiations as needed, contributing to cost-effective procurement.

Maintains accurate records and generates reports related to inventory, receipts, and disbursements.

Contributes to the development and implementation of materials management policies and procedures.

Ensures compliance with safety regulations and promotes a safe working environment within the materials management area.

Materials Supervisor Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics).

A minimum of 3 years of previous materials experience is preferred.

Demonstrated supervisory skills and experience leading a team.

Experience in shipping, warehousing, and inventory materials management.

Experience in vendor negotiations is a plus.

MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system experience is a plus.

ISM (Institute for Supply Management) or APICS (Association for Supply Chain Management) certification or coursework is a plus.

Proficiency in personal computer applications, including spreadsheets (e.g., Excel) and word processing (e.g., Word).Company Description
