Location: Columbia, SC (Hybrid - 50% Onsite)

Employment Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Contract (Strong Possibility of Extension)

About the Role

The South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) is seeking an experienced and highly technical .NET Developer to join our Child Support Services Applications Team as a Project Lead. This role supports mission-critical applications such as PACSS, SC New Hire Directory, and the Client Portal. If you have deep experience with Microsoft technologies and a passion for architecting scalable, secure, and data-driven applications—we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Design and implement large-scale software systems using Microsoft .NET architecture.

Lead development of web-based N-tier systems with strong focus on performance and security.

Manage technical specifications, architecture decisions, and system documentation.

Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and DevOps activities.

Collaborate closely with DSS stakeholders, technical teams, and other state agencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

7+ years experience designing and developing enterprise .NET applications

5+ years experience with data-driven apps using MS SQL Server

Deep knowledge of C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, and MVC

Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git repositories

Expertise in WCF, Entity Framework 6, PowerShell scripting, and Angular (v15+)

Working knowledge of RxJS, JavaScript (ES6+), JQuery, and responsive design

Familiarity with Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory, and IIS

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Skills

Experience with Agile methodologies

Knowledge of performance testing, security, and regression tools

Experience integrating with government systems or large enterprise software
