Job Description
Salary:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Intern to support general office functions and customer service operations for the Small Business Administration's (SBA) National Call Center. This internship provides hands-on experience in both administrative tasks and front-line customer support.
The intern will work two days per week onsite, assisting with general office duties including sorting and distributing mail, and three days per week supporting the SBA Answer Desk, responding to phone inquiries and logging information.
Key Responsibilities
In-Office Days (2 Days/Week):
Sort, organize, and distribute incoming mail
Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, document organization, and data entry
Operate common office equipment (fax, copier, printers, etc.)
Assist with other clerical support duties as assigned
Answer Desk Days (3 Days/Week):
Answer incoming calls to the SBA National 800 Number
Provide professional, courteous, and prompt responses to routine inquiries
Escalate complex or technical inquiries to Tier 2 support as needed
Document and track number and type of calls received daily
Route inquiries to appropriate SBA program offices or team members
Assist with updates to internal tracking systems and logs
Qualifications & Skills
Interest in public service, customer support, or office administration
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Reliable, detail-oriented, and organized
Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and web browsers (Edge, Chrome)
Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute accurately
Professional and positive attitude; team-oriented
Additional Information
This is a part-time, paid internship
This is a seasonal position tentatively scheduled to run June 1 - August 31, 2025
Interns must be available to work two consistent in-office days per week and three Answer Desk shifts (remote or in-office, depending on setup)
Training will be provided
