As a Senior Network Test Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our fiber-optic internet and Wi-Fi products deliver exceptional performance. Your expertise will directly impact the everyday connectivity experience of our customers.
Role Description
At GFiber, our philosophy is leading the technology evolution in the industry. This role at GFiber is not just testing the Wireless product, but keeps evaluating new wireless products (CPE) and associated features. You will be responsible for designing new test cases to evaluate the latest new Wi-Fi products as well as the new Wi-Fi features. You will also be the technical point of contact for all vendors for any new Wi-Fi product development. The role also involves evaluating new Wi-Fi test equipment in the lab and customizing new test cases for different Wi-Fi use case scenarios. You'll have a huge impact on the daily quality of GFiber's growing suite of products and services.You will use your knowledge of wireless and routing technology to promote proper engineering practice, new product intake strategy and other advanced concepts across products.
At GFiber, you will be providing users with the fastest and smoothest wireless services possible while constantly trying to push the boundaries and limits. GFiber works to go the very last mile, providing fiber-optic Internet connections directly to users' homes. You'll be building one of the fastest whole home wireless networks in America so that users can experience the future of wireless broadband because we know that your wireless in-home connection can never be too fast enough.
In this role, you'll:
Lead the CPE development test team to qualify any new product with new wireless technology - WiFi Router, WiFi Extender.
Define requirements for new CPE features and developing test plans and test cases for proposed requirements (like roaming, steering, mesh optimization).
Manage CPE vendor relationships for new features, firmware upgrades and bug fixes.
Advise Product and UX teams with technical expertise on new features.
Triage field issues escalated by the NOC team and track it towards resolution.
At a minimum we'd like you to have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
5 years of engineering experience with WiFi CPE in a SP/Vendor environment.
Demonstrated experience with new WiFi features on WiFi Router and WiFi Extenders in residential, MDU, enterprise environments.
Experience with WiFi testing, covering aspects like 802.11ax/be standards, WPA3 security, mesh networking, roaming, band steering,throughput, interference handling and experience in Wifi lab tools like IXIA(Veriwave), Spirent(Octoscope), or Candela.
Experience working with TCP/IP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, Ethernet, DHCP, DNS, ICMP, ARP, NAT, Bridging and Switching.
It's preferred if you have:
Master's degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
Experience with CPE/client-side networking technologies (i.e. IP/Ethernet, Telemetry).
Experience with wireless technologies used in Enterprise WiFi (i.e. Wi-Fi, band mgmt, Wi-Fi Meshing, EasyMesh, etc.)
Expertise in IoT technologies like bluetooth, thread, LoRa, Halow, satellite technologies for airplane internet backup.
Expertise in client-side application layer communication protocols such as TR-069/369, SNMP, MQTT, and Protocol Buffers.
Experience with CCNA/CCNP or equivalent routing/networking, & knowledge of PON technologies like GPON, XGS, etc.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $180,000 - $198,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
