Position Overview
The Spice Quality Assurance Documentation Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of spice products through meticulous data analysis, documentation, and client communication. This position serves as the bridge between laboratory testing results and customer requirements, transforming complex analytical data into clear, actionable documentation for major food ingredient companies.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret laboratory test results for spices, including microbial counts, pathogen screening, moisture content, pH values, color metrics, and other quality parameters
Create comprehensive quality assurance documentation packages for customers, including certificates of analysis, specification sheets, and compliance reports
Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries regarding test results, quality parameters, and compliance documentation
Collaborate with laboratory technicians to ensure accurate data collection and timely reporting of test results
Monitor trends in quality parameters across spice batches to identify potential issues and recommend preventive actions
Maintain detailed records of all testing procedures, results, and customer communications in compliance with regulatory requirements
Assist in the development and refinement of testing protocols and documentation standards
Prepare customized technical reports for clients explaining variances, addressing concerns, and providing recommendations
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field; advanced degree preferred
3+ years of experience in food quality assurance, laboratory testing, or related role in the food ingredient industry
Outstanding English written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate technical information for various audiences
Strong understanding of microbiological testing methods, physical property analysis, and food safety regulations
Experience in customer-facing roles within the food industry preferred
Knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, Allergen, Kosher, Country of Origin statements, and other relevant food safety statements
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities & work with a sense of urgency
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment. The role requires synthesizing information from laboratory testing and translating it into client-ready documentation and communications. Must be able to work around strong spice aromas.
Important Details:
The anticipated compensation for this position ranges from $25 to $32 per hour. This is the lowest to highest salary that we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual discretionary merit compensation award and annual bonus.
This is a full-time, onsite position during first shift.
