Duties and Responsibilities (* Denotes Essential Functions):
*Install, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows operating systems in support of Information Technology Services projects
*Install, configure, and maintain vSphere hypervisor, vCenter management system supporting the groups virtualization infrastructure
*Install, configure, and maintain Server hardware and management software supporting the groups virtualization infrastructure
*Install, configure, and maintain Storage hardware and management software supporting the groups virtualization infrastructure
*Directly utilize the Enterprise Backup system to restore backups of Virtual Machines and files as needed
*Monitor the availability and performance of systems infrastructure supporting assigned applications taking appropriate action regarding service downtime, degradation, or interruption
*Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures related to Linux and Windows systems management
*Develop and document scripting and applications to support automation enhancing and automating managing of assigned systems
*Serves as Designated Responsible Individual working on call responding to the groups incident management system during service interruptions, degradation of service, and downtime for assigned systems
*Serves as Designated Responsible Individual ensuring security and errata patches are applied within ITS policies to assigned systems
*Serves as a part of a team of System Administrators managing Managed Services systems and customers
*Serves as Lead System Administrator for other projects as assigned
*Demonstrated ability and plan to keep current on new technologies and advancements in system administration.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Computer Science, Computing Engineering, Computer Network, Information Technology, Network Administration, Computer Security or similar related degree or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for System Administration, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower pay band in the University of Hawai'i broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware and software associated with systems administration.
Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluate, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
performing System Administrator duties on Windows Server 2016 or higher
performing System Administrator duties for Linux operating systems
managing and maintaining VMWare virtualization system including vSphere and vCenter
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience as lead System Administrator for Red Hat Linux or Ubuntu server / desktop environments
Experience as lead System Administrator for Windows Server 2019 or higher
Experience with both premise-based and Azure Entra (Active Directory)
Experience managing and maintaining server and storage hardware and enterprise backup solutions
Significant working knowledge of virtualization systems such as VMWare or Openstack
