The Community Health Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the Public Health Department, responsible for overseeing staff and programming to ensure the effective delivery of community health services. This position focuses on developing and evaluating programs, managing personnel, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering community partnerships. The role supports the department’s mission to protect and improve public health through operational excellence, strategic planning, and a commitment to equity.
Job Duties
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of community health programs, including:
Public Health Planning and Strategies
Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP)
Cannabis programming
Child and Teen Checkups
Foundational Public Health Responsibilities
Public communication efforts
Supervise and support staff through:
Assigning tasks and projects
Conducting performance evaluations
Facilitating onboarding and training
Providing ongoing coaching and mentorship
Design and manage strategic initiatives aligned with community health assessments and department priorities.
Collect, analyze, and interpret data to:
Identify trends and community needs
Measure program effectiveness
Drive continuous improvement
Collaborate with KaRe to Achieve to:
Conduct comprehensive community health assessments
Develop quality improvement strategies
Implement strategic plans for the Community Health Board
Monitor program compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Ensure adherence to internal policies and standard operating procedures.
Foster partnerships and collaborate with:
Other county departments
Community organizations
Regional and cross-agency health initiatives
Manage program resources, including:
Budget oversight
Staff allocation
Supply planning and inventory management
Lead health equity efforts by:
Promoting inclusive policies and practices
Addressing social determinants of health
Prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all programming
Serve as a public health subject matter expert, providing consultation and guidance both internally and externally.
Represent the department in collaborative workgroups, committees, and community health initiatives.
Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in public health program management or related leadership roles.
Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring professional staff.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, health sciences, or a closely related field required.
Master’s degree preferred.
