Cloud Data Architect

Overview

Seeking a talented and experienced Cloud Data Architect to join our growing Emerging Technologies team. As a Cloud Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing, building, and managing scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud data architectures.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data strategies, implement cloud data solutions, and optimize cloud platforms for analytics, data storage, and processing.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cloud technologies, data engineering, and architecture design. This role will be instrumental in continuing to build and grow our data platform in order to enable the achievement of key business results.Responsibilities

Design and implement end-to-end cloud data architecture solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and cost-efficiency

Collaborate with stakeholders to define data strategies, data models, and integration processes

Lead the migration of on-premise data systems to the cloud, ensuring minimal disruption, and seamless transition

Build and maintain cloud data pipelines for large-scale data processing, storage, and analytics

Develop data governance frameworks and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations

Optimize cloud storage and data processing solutions for performance and cost-effectiveness

Work with engineering teams to implement best practices for data integration and data flow across cloud environments

Define data security policies, authentication, and authorization mechanisms for cloud-based platforms

Provide guidance on cloud data technologies, data modeling, and data management best practices

Conduct research and document cloud data architecture strategies and designs

Set-up and maintain monitoring and logging systems to track application performance, troubleshoot, and identify issues

Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and data architecture trends Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

8+ years of experience in data architecture, with at least 5 years working with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure).

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect).

Proficiency in cloud data services such as Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and cloud data lakes.

Strong experience in designing and implementing scalable data models, ETL processes, and data pipelines.

Experience in cloud security, compliance, and data governance.

Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure tools and technologies (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker).

Proficiency in programming languages including Python, SQL, and Java.

Proven ability to develop custom Python connectors to bridge data pipelines with various sources

Familiarity with Airflow for robust workflow orchestration and scheduling

Strong understanding of data warehousing, big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark), and real-time data processing.

Experience designing and architecting scalable data systems that leverage a hybrid approach of batch processing and real-time data streaming

Adept at utilizing Google Cloud Functions for serverless computing and building RESTful APIs for seamless data integration

Proficient in working with the Command Line Interface (CLI) for efficient system administration

Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and logging mechanisms for proactive system health checks

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data architecture concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

Experience with serverless data architectures and microservices

Familiarity with machine learning and AI data processing frameworks

Strong understanding of Open Source tooling and their applications within the data ecosystem

Familiarity with Meltano SDK
