Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Automation & Machine Design

Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical drafting standards, extensive experience with UG NX, and a solid understanding of automation systems and machine design. This role involves creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for complex machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting the design and development of automated systems for industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and manage detailed mechanical designs using UG NX CAD software
Apply drafting standards including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), welding symbols, and ASME Y14.5 to ensure accurate and manufacturable designs
Develop 3D assemblies, detailed part drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for automation and custom machinery
Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, controls, and project engineering to ensure seamless integration
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering change processes
Conduct design validation, tolerance stack-up analysis, and material selection
Support prototyping, fabrication, and testing phases of machine builds
Maintain proper documentation and revision control practices
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Design Engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting
Proficiency in UG NX (Siemens NX) and familiarity with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems
Strong knowledge of GD&T, welding symbols, ASME Y14.5 standards, and mechanical drafting best practices
Experience in machine design or industrial automation systems
Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, and welding
Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications
Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with pneumatics, actuators, and motion control components
Familiarity with other CAD platforms such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
Exposure to automation in sectors like automotive, packaging, or material handling
Hands-on experience supporting machine assembly or testing
