Senior Controls Engineer - Automotive Conveyors

Job Description

An international manufacturer in Memphis, TN is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support their operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with powering electrical systems and configuring controls hardware (control panel design) for large-scale conveyor systems.

This is a full time and direct hire position with an excellent benefits package (health/vision/dental insurance, 401k options. The salary range for this role is between $100,000 – 120,000, dependent on level of experience with industrial conveyor systems.

Responsibilities include:

Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per client application requirements

Design controls (enclosure layouts, control panels, power distribution) for customized automation systems

Collaborate with mechanical engineering teams on a project basis: read mechanical drawings and understand their electrical requirements to create schematics

Create specifications for graphical user interface (GUI) based on client requirements

Supervise control system construction and installation at client sites

Occasionally travel to customer sites following installation for modifications and troubleshooting of systems

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S) in Electrical Engineering or similar related field

3+ years of experience with automotive conveyors

Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC)

Ability to travel up to 25% for installation support (often during holiday shutdowns)

Ability to read mechanical drawings

Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed for project deadlines

This position includes manufacturing and warehousing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
