Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Front-End Engineering Director to lead our engineering operations across multiple U.S. facilities. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping front-end engineering strategy, optimizing processes, and driving cross-functional collaboration to improve quality, cycle time, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and inspire a geographically distributed Front-End Engineering (FEE) team across all Summit locations.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Identify and develop technical leadership talent within the team.
Operational Excellence
Oversee day-to-day functions of Planning and CAM Tooling departments.
Standardize and optimize processes to reduce variability and improve first-pass yield.
Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive performance and reduce waste.
Strategic & Technical Influence
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to align FEE processes with companywide operational goals.
Provide technical support for complex tooling reviews and customer specifications.
Drive the evaluation and implementation of capital improvements, automation, and scripting to enhance tooling capabilities.
Collaborate with the Software Development team on integrating advanced automation as a driving factor to improve cycle times and quality.
Metrics & Performance Management
Monitor and report KPIs for accuracy, efficiency, and cycle time of traveler/tooling package releases.
Develop and execute process improvement plans based on data-driven insights.
Ensure accuracy and consistency in engineering documentation and communication.
Key Performance Indicators:
Traveler/tooling package release accuracy and timeliness.
Reduction in cycle time from quote to CAM completion.
First-pass manufacturing yield.
Cross-site standardization and process consistency.
Employee development and retention.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred; practical, relevant work experience instead of a degree will be considered.
Minimum 10 years of experience in PCB manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering or leadership role.
Deep knowledge of PWB tooling processes, CAM software, and RF/microwave product requirements.
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and data interpretation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication, including customer-facing interactions.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base salary range: $125,000 - $225,000 (based on experience).
