POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Counselor – Middle School
POSITION TYPE: Certified – Teacher Contract
QUALIFICATIONS: A valid Ohio School Counselor Certificate.
Master’s Degree in Education (or higher) from an accredited college or university with specific emphasis in guidance and counseling.
Counseling experience in group processes, special needs students, substance abuse education/intervention/prevention and guidance curriculum development.
Successful completion of three or more years of middle school teaching experience.
Shows evidence of abilities in interpersonal communication, leadership and organization.
Demonstrated experience working with parents and school personnel.
Demonstrated skill in written and oral communication.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
CONTRACT
WORK DAYS: 186 Days
RESPONSIBLE TO: Middle School Principal
GENERAL
RESPONSIBILITIES: Implements programs that promote positive self-concepts in students, provides opportunities to develop interpersonal and academic skills and ameliorate social, behavioral and interactional problems within the middle school.
