The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting for a Peer Support Specialist. This position is primarily assigned to work 7:45 am to 4:30 pm.

Position Summary
As WRC's Peer Support Specialist, you will independently coordinate, prepare and present learning and training opportunities, assists with planning and developing educational programs or support services, and provide consultation for the WRC. You will act as a bridge between management and staff members by assisting in addressing important employee climate issues at WRC. You will lead by example, demonstrating and emphasizing the value of all individuals, employing trauma-informed care, recovery and inclusion principles and philosophy in all interactions. In addition, you will be responsible for collaborating with WRC staff members to assist in maintaining a positive, employee-friendly work environment and gathering information regarding employee feedback to assist in guiding management decisions regarding operations and the workplace.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $30.14 and $36.46 per hour (approximately between $62,600 and $75,800 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current state employees is based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Staff Development Program Specialist and is in pay schedule and range 81/04.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates will have all of the following:
Experience or training in preparing or administering staff wellness programming.
Experience leading presentations, trainings or meetings for a variety of audiences (e.g., preparing content, drafting agendas, etc.).
Experience or training in trauma informed care principles.
Well-qualified applicants will also have the following:
Experience providing peer support services (e.g., outreach, certified peer specialist certification, providing mental health resources, etc.).
Experience coordinating programs or projects (e.g., organizing and leading workgroups, developing and implementing programs, developing workplans, monitoring programs for progress, etc.).
