Position Overview

Alaska General Seafoods - Ketchikan is looking for an extremely organized and hardworking individual to join our office team as the Runner/File Clerk. Most of the day will be spent driving to various locations for pickups/deliveries with the remainder of the day spent on general office tasks. This is a seasonal summer job at our facility in Ketchikan, Alaska and requires that you are available to work through the end of August.

You will report to the Ketchikan Office Manager who will build the Runner/File Clerk day-to-day schedule.

Essential Job Functions

Daily mail pickup, sorting and delivery

Daily parts delivery and pickups

Maintaining a record of items being shipped and received

Establishing a schedule/route that is efficient and will maximize your time

Making on the fly adjustments to your schedule for unexpected delays

Airport drop off/pickups of visitors and employees

Managing visitor reservations, activities and transportation

Maintaining spreadsheets for canned shipments

Must have a driver’s license

Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned by Office Manager.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, you will largely be working out of a company vehicle and occasionally in the office. You will need to follow safety protocol and wear appropriate PPE while in production areas.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to stand; walk; sit at a computer for intermittent periods of time. It is required that you be able to see, talk and hear. Runner/File Clerk must be capable of working long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time. Shifts typically range from 12-14 hours with periodic breaks based on work demands and plant production.

Mental Abilities:

While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to use communication, time management, teamwork and interpersonal skills. You will occasionally perform basic math and read, speak, write and need to understand English.

Wages and Benefits

$17 / regular hour; $25.50 / overtime hour – Payroll is processed Bi-Weekly

In Alaska, employees are paid overtime after eight regular hours in a day, and after 40 regular hours in a week.

AGS Ketchikan provides transportation from the nearest major airport to the work location and back if you complete the season.

Employees live on site in communal bunkhouses with shared facilities, rooms are assigned based on gender identity, bed linens are provided. The cookhouse prepares hearty and nutritious meals and snacks. The housekeeping staff cleans and sanitizes restrooms and common areas. Laundry is the employees responsibility but we provide washers/dryers and detergent free of charge.
