Job Description

Day in the life of an EPIC Analyst:

The Epic Analyst is responsible for the designing, building, testing, installation and support of software applications required for the utilization of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. As a member of an application team, this individual contributes to the scope and design of system maintenance, enhancements, and upgrade.

Here is what you will be doing:

• Acts as the primary support contact for the application's end-users

• Identifies issues that arise in their application area as well as issues that impact other application teams, and works to resolve them

• Guides workflow design, building and testing the system, and analyzes other technical issues associated with Epic software

• Identifies and implements requested changes to the system

• Maintains regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in team meetings

• Works with Epic representatives and end users to ensure the system meets the organization's or department’s needs

• Develops an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's or department’s workflows which may include attending site visits and other integrated sessions

• Participates in training and working with end users

• Troubleshoots problems and questions

• Provides clear, accurate, and timely communication to leadership regarding risks to the status of build, installation, enhancements, or timeline.

• Holds regular communications with team members and end user to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, and upcoming milestones/enhancements

• May travel for training or work with remote clients and be available outside of normal business hours for rotation on call duties

Desired Skills:

• Proficient skills in all aspects of design, development, testing and best practices of Epic applications implementations and maintenance

• Proficient ability to troubleshooting and problem solving

• Ability to acquire knowledge through research or self-training where needed for effective implementation

• Ability to work both independently and in teams

• Ability to triage, address, or find resources to provide resolution to technical support questions of customers

• Knowledge of workflows and ability to integrate into system composition

• Proficient ability to develop a test plan and execute test scenarios for system readiness

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other IT systems

• Ability to maintain Continue Epic Education requirements for certification

Here is what you will need:

• Bachelor's degree

o OR, Associate’s and two (2) or more years of job-related experience

o OR, High School diploma (or equivalent certificate from an accredited program) and four (4) or more years of job-related experience

• Two (2) or more years of healthcare and/or information systems experience (may be concurrent)

• One (1) or more years of experience project based teamwork (may be concurrent)

• 90 Days: Epic certification and/or able to achieve Epic certification within 90 days of last Epic certification class

Nice to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area

• Three years of experience in electronic health record (HER) development and support

• Two years of project-based experience
