ROLE OVERVIEW
The Bid and Proposal Specialist will play a key role in the application of technical and operational knowledge to develop sound and accurate project proposals, manage and coordinate internal and external proposals, trade-off studies, tenders including; approval submissions, tender handovers and client feedback for unsuccessful tenders. You will be a key participant in contract negotiations, development of proposal value propositions, project delivery models and partner selections.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Development of proposal value propositions, project delivery models and partner selections
Analyze each mining operation as a system (regardless of complexity) and determine the critical value drivers and devise a strategy which maximizes return from both a Thiess and a Client (where possible) perspective
Coordinate a multidisciplinary tender team to ensure all internal and external deadlines are met with regard to tender preparation and submission
Coordination of specialists and stakeholders for proposal and tender processes
Identify risks in tender and mitigate during tender process
Direct proposal development for service offerings, from scoping and design to development of appropriate business plan
Manage Salesforce gate approval requests and review meeting requirement
Work with Mine planning engineers and estimators, to ensure that mine plan is optimized for the tender
Manage clients' tender platforms and tendering processes, ensuring that all client requirements for tenders are met, and exceeded where possible
Ensure client requirements and client drivers are met in tender submissions
Demonstrate safety leadership and foster a safety culture across all activities
Clearly communicate lessons learned and provide feedback
Perform other related duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in mining/heavy civil operations, field experience, with experience in development of projects from concept to contract execution
Demonstrated experience working within the mining industry in North America
Demonstrated experience in mine operations / planning / estimating / forecasting
In depth understanding of mining fleet, application and mining services
Basic technical competence in open pit mining methods, mining technology, reclamation, and assets services
Working knowledge of technical, safety, quality and environmental management systems and their application to mining operational requirements
Demonstrated experience in project development of mining services, proposal trade-off studies
Minimum of 6 of relevant experience in mining/heavy civil operations, field experience, with experience in development of projects from concept to contract execution
Project management skills to ensure tender submissions run on time and budget
Knowledge of contractual, legal, commercial and legislative compliance and reporting procedures and processes
Ability to develop value proposition statements
Customer service focused and client relationship orientation with Salesforce or similar CRM tool experience
Knowledge of risk management procedures, processes and management tools
Basic accounting and finance knowledge
Excellent technical and commercial writing skills
Advanced skills in MS Office 365 software
EDUCATION
Engineering Degree in mining, or related fields is preferred (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Occasional in-state, out-of-state, and out-of-country travel to meet with suppliers or perform site visits
Ability to attend and participate in meetings
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at time
