ABOUT OUR ROLE

We are seeking servers to join our team at Trailborn Surf & Sound. As a Server, you will take food and beverage orders from guests, serve items, maintain guest satisfaction, take payments and respond to complaints and/or concerns of customers. Servers are also to show and maintain a high level of what Trailborn Hospitality means.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS

Maintaining a solid menu knowledge.

Attention to detail.

Effectively communicating with management and staff.

Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.

Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment including cleaning requirements. Use equipment only as intended.

Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests.

Answer questions on menu/alcoholic selections to guests.

Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.

Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in outlet assigned.

Record transaction in POS system at time of order.

Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages.

Set tables according to service standards.

Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, re-cooking orders, and product availability.

Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day.

Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.

Present physical and accurate check to guests and process payments.

Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards.

Run food and bus tables when you find extra time.

Anticipate and address guests` service needs.

Speak with others using clear and professional language.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support your team to reach common goals.

Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.

Thank guests with genuine appreciation.

Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

Certifications: TIPS Certification - within 90 days of hiring.

Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a high-volume restaurant

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively

Able to handle service and stay organized.

Skills:

Meets age to serve alcoholic beverages.

Has prior experience as a Restaurant or Banquet Food Server.

Has knowledge of basic cocktails and wine varietals.

Provide legible communication.

Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.

Compute basic arithmetic.

Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.

Prioritize and organize. Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.

Follow directions thoroughly.

Understand guest’s service needs.

Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Work with minimal supervision.

Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Work safely to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries, wear protective equipment as required.

Work safely to ensure company equipment is secure.

Complete required training programs.

Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work as needed.

Property Information: While on-site parking is limited, we offer an offsite parking option for our team members to ensure convenient access to work.

PHYSICAL

REQUIREMENTS

Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-10 hours per shift.

Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, including pots, pans, and boxes of supplies.

Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to access ingredients, equipment, and storage areas.

Manual Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for chopping, slicing, and other food preparation tasks.

Heat Tolerance: Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment, often near ovens, stoves, and other heat sources.

Mobility: Ability to move quickly and efficiently around the kitchen, including navigating tight spaces.

Visual Acuity: Good vision for reading recipes, monitoring food quality, and ensuring proper presentation.

Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, both verbally and in writing.

Endurance: Physical stamina to handle long shifts, often involving repetitive tasks and high-pressure situations.

UNIFORM

Employee provides business casual and on occasion business professional attire when necessary for functions; Employee provides black non-slip safety toe footwear that is sturdy, provides support for the arch of the foot with a well-defined heel.

SCHEDULE

Hospitality demands a flexible schedule that may require extended hours as the business requires coverage including seasonality– on any day at any hour, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
