Under the supervision of the Butler Medical Transport/ Best Care Ambulance Leadership team the Emergency Vehicle Operator – EVO is an integral part of the EMS team, providing support to the EMT partner. The EVO will respond to nonemergent medical transports, assisting their EMT partner with moving patients to and from the ambulance stretcher and assists in loading of the stretcher into ambulance and provides an exemplary transport using knowledge and skills in driving to avoid sudden motions detrimental to patients. EVOs are an integral part of the healthcare system and making a significant impact on patients’ lives. The role of the EVO demands quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transports the ill and injured to institutions of medical care;

Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all conditions;

Ensure vehicles and equipment for transport readiness;

Cleans and maintains equipment;

Maintains strict compliance with all policies and procedures;

Maintains strict compliance with all rules and regulations set forth by the state and federal programs;

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Graduation From High School or equivalent

19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposes

Valid driver’s license

Ability to drive company vehicles with a clean driving record

Successful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to complete company provided course

Ability to obtain a Public Service Commission License (PSC)

Ability to work independently with little direct supervision

Ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently and effectively

Ability to pass a lift test of 150 – 200 pounds

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

Ability to work around machinery and moving parts

Ability to work outdoors during all weather conditions

Ability to speak and write English
