POSITION OVERVIEW:
Chiquita is seeking a candidate who is highly adaptable to changes in business needs, flexible with work schedules, and eager to take accountability for various processes at our facility in Freeport, Texas. This exempt position is responsible for supervising port and yard operations, including (but not limited to) process planning and oversight to ensure operational standards, cost-effectiveness, data integrity, and timely reporting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Direct supervision of gate and yard personnel to ensure process and system integrity. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to): intermodal equipment inspection and damage reporting, real-time and accurate equipment inventory in the system, and real-time visibility of equipment location in both our Freeport yard and the 3PL transfer facility.
Planning, supervision, and reporting of gate, yard, and ship operations during weekly vessel port calls and after vessel departures.
Provide necessary reports to validate stevedore and port invoices.
Coordinate yard personnel and oversee execution of operational processes.
Coordinate with GWF and Transportation teams on liner Northbound and Southbound cargo deliveries to the yard, ensuring compliance with cutoffs for vessel operations.
Coordinate with carriers and the Transportation team regarding OTR equipment returns.
Complete and validate Wharfage and Royalties reports.
Coordinate with yard personnel to ensure liner Northbound equipment and documentation are ready for customer dispatch.
Participate in cross-training and maintain working knowledge of all operational processes and systems.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree required / Bachelors degree preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
3 years of experience in port and/or yard operations or transportation/logistics
2 years in a supervisory role
Experience in an intermodal environment preferred
Proficiency in Excel and Outlook
Ability to quickly learn computer information system applications

This exempt position requires availability for extended work hours, including weekends and holidays. Schedule may change based on business needs.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
The incumbent will be exposed to an environment with heavy equipment traffic during the planning and supervision of processes.
Must learn and occasionally perform tasks such as plugging and unplugging reefer containers to/from 480V power sources, and train direct reports accordingly.
May sit for extended periods at a desk or computer terminal.
May use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other standard office equipment.
Walking, stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching may be required as part of job duties.
