Phillips Academy seeks an Assistant Coach for the junior varsity football program for Fall 2025.

Position Summary:

Phillips Academy seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Junior Varsity (JV) Football Assistant Coach to help lead and develop our JV football team. Working alongside our head JV football coach, the ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in football coaching, strategic understanding of the game, and a passion for teaching and mentoring student-athletes. This coach will be responsible for fostering skill development, teamwork, and a love of football within a competitive, yet educational environment aligned with the school’s values.

Key Responsibilities:

Partake in all aspects of the JV football program, including planning and executing practices, game preparation, and in-game coaching.

Develop players’ individual and team skills through structured drills, instruction, and feedback.

Collaborate closely with the Varsity Head Football Coach to align JV strategies with the overall football program.

Support player growth with a focus on fundamentals, character development, and sportsmanship.

Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes leadership, accountability, and mutual respect.

Ensure player safety and adherence to school and league athletic policies.

Communicate clearly and consistently with student-athletes, families, and school staff.

Attend required coaching meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.

Watch and critique film via HUDL.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience coaching football at the youth, high school or collegiate level.

Deep knowledge of football rules, offensive and defensive strategies, and player development.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to mentor and motivate high school athletes of varying experience levels.

Commitment to the mission and values of Phillips Academy and its educational philosophy.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season start).

Season Schedule:

Time frame: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Friday: ~3:15pm - 6 pm

Game days beginning early September - typically Wednesdays, ~2 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Dates: August 30th through mid-November, including weekday practices and weekend planning.
