The Center for Innovation Strategy and Policy (CISP) at SRI works with public and private organizations across the U.S. and internationally to develop deliberate and adaptable economic and workforce development strategies, policies, and practices that help clients manage these transitions; achieve resilient, inclusive growth; and accelerate the long-term economic and social impact of investments in innovation, science, and technology.

Based out of our Arlington, Virginia office, the Innovation Strategy and Policy Intern, as part of CISP, will contribute to innovation policy research, analysis, and evaluations for a diverse range of clients in the following areas: Technology-based Economic and Workforce Development

Innovation Ecosystem Assessment

Innovation Strategy and Training

Complex Program Evaluation

Federal Science and Technology Program Support

Advanced Analytics in R&D Analysis Responsibilities

Collect, manage, and analyze diverse and complex data sets.

Apply proprietary and other analytical approaches.

Support quality control for analytic and publication needs.

Produce pieces of well-written, high-quality reports and presentations for clients in collaboration with team members.

Administrative duties (scheduling, notetaking)

Work well in teams, on multiple projects, and under the direction of project leaders or other senior staff, while executing tasks and managing time and project resources independently as needed. Qualifications

Pursuing a four-year degree in a STEM field, public policy, or other policy-oriented field in the social or hard sciences.

U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.

Coursework or research experience involving both qualitative and quantitative methods, including programming, statistical analysis, policy review, stakeholder interviews, feasibility studies, and case studies.

Knowledge of data and analytics tools such as Excel, Tableau, R and/or Python.

Able and willing to adapt to different roles based on project needs; comfortable working independently with minimal oversight; time management; attention to detail; a strong work ethic; and strong written and oral communication.

Desired: prior internship or work experience in policy issues related to economic development, competitiveness, innovation, technology development, and/or program evaluation.

The salary range is: $16.80-$23/hr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
