Job Title: Technical Writer – Startup Testing (Contract) Location: Oak Ridge, Tennessee Contract Duration: 02/06/2025 – 01/06/2026 Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (4/10 schedule) Pay Rate: $80 – $100/hour + $10/hour per diem for food and lodging (for candidates residing 50+ miles from site) Position Summary: We're seeking a Startup Technical Writer to join the team supporting system startup and commissioning.

The primary focus will be on producing and editing Test Packages and related documentation for system testing and startup operations.

This role ensures the clarity, quality, and technical integrity of startup test documents while working closely with engineers and project teams.

Key Responsibilities: Follow guidance from the Startup Lead Technical Writer for all assigned writing and editing tasks.

Support the development and refinement of functional test instructions.

Collaborate with Test Engineers to ensure editorial changes maintain the technical intent of test procedures.

Maintain documentation in compliance with project document control procedures.

Provide input to streamline and improve the startup documentation process.

Perform additional tasks as assigned to support broader project startup and commissioning efforts.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Prior experience with startup operations in nuclear power, Department of Energy (DOE) construction projects, or similar highly regulated environments.

U.S.

Citizenship required.

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check (including education and employment verification). Must be eligible to obtain a security badge for site access.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of startup testing, commissioning, and technical writing standards.

Familiarity with construction, engineering, and regulatory compliance practices.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing test procedures and reports.

Proficient in using document management systems and general computer applications.
