Tutor Perini is the general contractor for the HART City Center Guideway and Stations project. The scope of the approximately $1.66 billion contract includes the design and construction of six rail stations and approximately three miles of elevated rail guideway beginning just east of the Middle Street Transit Center Station and ending at the Civic Center Station, which will be located just east of the intersection of Halekauwila Street and South Street in downtown Honolulu. Project design is expected to begin immediately while construction is estimated to commence in the second half of 2025. Construction of this segment is expected to be substantially completed in 2030.

DESCRIPTION:
As a Field Engineer at Tutor Perini Corp., reporting to the Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to:
Meet daily with project crews to review the production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget
Collect, coordinate and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance
Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule
Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Document daily activities in Company approved methods and technologies
Perform additional assignments per management’s direction
Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manage cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment and subcontractor needs
Review and approve daily timecards for all Company construction crews. Work with Office Manager, payroll and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard inquiries, as needed
Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work and after work completes. Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site
Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins. Initiate and manage any permits needed before work can begin
Conduct the required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel. Attend weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership; present field analysis as needed
Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provides technical input as needed
Assist the development of design drawings and provides technical input, as needed
Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed
Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project
Maintain knowledge of Company values and strategic plan
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering or construction management.
Three plus years of structural engineering or heavy highway experience preferred
Knowledge of scheduling processes and industry best practices
Knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawing & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the project
Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
Proficient skill in verbal and written communication
Proven self-starter and self-motivated to learn and grow knowledge
Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred
