Snap-on Elizabethton, Tennessee is seeking a Engineering Technician to program and troubleshoot Swiss CNC machines.
Position Summary: Creates and optimizes CNC programs for Swiss-style turning machines, ensuring precision and efficiency in the production of small, complex parts. Key responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling, setting up machines, and troubleshooting program-related issues. Provide manufacturing support by loading, debugging, and proving all new CNC programs.
Responsibilities
KEY TASKS
Developing new CNC programs and refining existing ones for Swiss-style lathes.
Choosing the correct tooling for specific machining operations, considering material properties and desired surface finish.
Preparing Swiss lathes for production, including setting offsets, loading stock, and verifying tool positions.
Identifying and resolving issues related to programming, tooling, or machine operation.
Suggesting and implementing improvements to machining processes to reduce cycle time and improve tool life.
Maintaining accurate records of programs, setups, and process changes.
Working with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure product manufacturability.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code) and CAM software.
Knowledge of Swiss-style turning machines and tooling.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications.
Understanding of machining processes, material properties, and tooling selection.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and collaboration skills
Knowledge of design and gauging practices.
Training of operators as needed.
