We currently have an opening for an Electrical Engineer for our Core Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This individual will design, develop, and test electrical systems, circuit boards and choose components for analysis instruments utilized across a broad range of industrial processes and laboratory applications. This position is based in Houston, TX or Pittsburgh, PA, reporting to the Director of Engineering with a focus on the initial planning and design phases of projects, applying creativity and precision to deliver optimal, cost-effective, and dependable technical solutions. This is an Engineering position that will collaborate with the Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing departments.

This role plays a critical part in driving our vision to partner with our customers to become their preferred process analytical solutions provider.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports the design of new products and assurance of compliance to the industry standards of the existing product lines.

Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished- product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.

Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, actively identifying potential hazards, and promoting a culture of safety among the team.

Design and implement electrical systems and circuits tailored to meet the specifications of analysis equipment.

Develop, review, update, and approve electrical design drawings and Bills of Materials (BoMs) in alignment with regulatory and safety standards.

Generate schematics, PCB layouts, BoMs, and supporting documentation for designs.

Perform simulations, testing, and analytical evaluations to guarantee system performance and dependability.

Author test procedures and assembly instructions to support manufacturing and field operations.

Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Diagnose and resolve performance and reliability issues through troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Manage the product lifecycle, from prototype development to production release.

Collaborate across disciplines, including mechanical and software engineering, for seamless electrical design integration.

Collaborate with engineers across multiple sites to support projects and operations.

Maintain and enhance existing designs through component substitutions or redesigns.

Build and sustain professional relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Refine and optimize engineering processes and workflows to improve efficiency.

Apply equal amounts of skills and dedication to all other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Attributes and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.

At least five years of experience in electrical board and system design within an OEM equipment design environment, serving as an Electrical Engineer.

Technical proficiency in Electrical CAD software (Altium, Ki cad or Orcad).

Proficient in designing analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.

Familiarity with microcontroller and FPGA-based system design (preferred).

Experience incorporating sensors and electromechanical components into design solutions.

Skilled in creating electrical specifications and block diagrams for proposed designs.

Experienced in schematic capture, PCB layout software, and electrical simulation tools.

Proficient in using CAD software to create detailed electrical schematics and design specifications.

Knowledgeable in designing electrical systems compliant with UL, EU, or similar certification standards.

Hands-on experience with soldering and PCB rework.

Understanding of communication interfaces and protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, CAN bus, RS485 and SPI.

Familiarity with 4-20mA current loop design and PLC-based controls design and programming.

Basic firmware development skills (C/C++).

Experience in extracting meaningful information and understanding the characteristics of electrical signals, such as voltage, current, frequency, and amplitude, to identify patterns, diagnose problems, and monitor system performance.

Professionalism, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

Ability to read, interpret and comprehend engineering prints / assembly drawings / BOM’s.

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.

Strong problem solving and time management skills, a results-oriented work ethic, and ability to work alone with limited direct supervision.

Fiscal and financial awareness is a must. Attention to cost and expense matters and promote.

Must be able to work unsupervised and have initiative to follow through on commitments with team and management

Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%
