IT Consultant 1 (System Admin)

Job Description:

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office (AGO) is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support its enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in managing Microsoft and IBM enterprise platforms, performing system deployments, maintaining server integrity, and ensuring system uptime and performance. This position requires frequent onsite presence at the AGO office in Columbus, OH.

Specialty Areas:

• Enterprise System Administration – Administration of Windows servers, IIS, Active Directory, and Exchange Server environments

• IBM Content Manager & Captiva – Installation, maintenance, and operational support of enterprise content management systems

• Secure File Transfer Solutions – Experience with Accellion / Kiteworks for secure communication and data transfer

• Performance Monitoring & Backup – Ensuring daily system integrity, recovery media validation, and archival operations

• Infrastructure Configuration – Installation, rebuilding, patching, and tuning of hardware/software systems per organization standards

Responsibilities:

• Perform one-off deployments to IIS and related systems

• Monitor and ensure hardware/server availability, system performance, and data integrity

• Manage user accounts, daily backups, system recovery, and archival operations

• Repair and recover from hardware/software failures

• Install, rebuild, and configure servers based on operational requirements

• Document installation/configuration processes and maintain system standards

• Apply operating system patches, upgrades, and new tools/services

• Perform performance tuning, reporting, and capacity planning

• Support CPU, memory, and disk configuration and optimization

Mandatory Requirements:

• Must be a current resident of Ohio

• Must be willing to work onsite frequently at the Rhodes State Office Tower, Columbus, OH

• Must have 7+ years of hands-on experience in system administration with relevant technologies

• Familiarity with state government environments

• Experience working in secure, compliance-regulated IT environments
