Primary Purpose of the Organization: Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The Health, Physical, and Secondary Education (HPSE) Department is housed within the College of Education.
The principal purpose of the Department of Health, Physical and Secondary Education is to provide quality education for prospective facilitators of learning in physical education, secondary education subjects, community-based health education, public health, and sports management.
Primary Purpose of the Position: Primary Purpose of the Position: The purpose of the position is to help facilitate and grow our new program in Sport and Fitness Management.
The newly added program was created and began with the existing faculty within the department.
This was feasible at the time of creation, but due to growth and curriculum adjustments, additional faculty are needed to sustain the program.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: An earned doctorate in sport management or a related field or equivalent terminal degree is required.
A record of demonstrated teaching competence and ability to teach a variety of sports management courses, along with scholarly accomplishment at the collegiate level, is required.
Appointment to faculty rank is open based on the appropriate level of scholarship and teaching.
Knowledge skills and abilities: We seek candidates with K-12 Health and Physical Education teaching experience, teaching in a college/university teacher preparation program, and in supervising teachers.
This position requires a commitment to strong K-16 relationships and to working in a diverse workplace.
Preferred Qualifications: * Three (3) years of experience teaching undergraduate/graduate sport management courses * Experience advising and supervising students.
* A demonstrated pattern of excellent teaching, student mentorship and engagement, and committed service.
* Experience with sport management program development, evaluation, and COSMA accreditation * An established research agenda in sport management and demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
* Willingness to work collaboratively on research projects and grants.
* Experience with grant writing and success with securing intra/extramural funding.
* Relevant industry experience with significant industry contacts.
* Hold current Personal Training Certifications.
