Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced IBM MQ - UNIX Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our E-commerce team in a remote, long-term contract role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UNIX (Solaris/Linux) systems administration, IBM MQ, and experience supporting enterprise-grade solutions in both on-premise and AWS cloud environments.

This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, scripting experience, and the ability to support mission-critical systems during nights and weekends when needed.

Required Technical Skills:

Expertise in UNIX (Solaris / Linux) system administration

Strong hands-on experience with IBM MQ - installation, configuration, migration, and upgrades

Advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning capabilities

Experience managing SSL/TLS, data encryption, and certificate-based authentication

Proficient in scripting languages: Shell, Perl, Python, JSON

Familiarity with AWS technologies including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ECS, REST APIs, GitLab

Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols

Responsibilities:

Support and maintain IBM MQ environments on Unix/Linux servers

Install, upgrade, and manage IBM MQ servers, clients, and JMS components

Maintain IBM MQ in AWS Cloud environments, using tools like ECS, REST APIs, GitLab, etc.

Provide technical build support, troubleshooting, and conduct root cause analysis

Perform change and incident management following established ITIL processes

Coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Deliver high-quality customer support and maintain detailed documentation

Manage individual tasks and contribute to broader team initiatives

Support systems during night and weekend schedules as required

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience (10+ years preferred)

Proven success in delivering complex technical solutions and managing enterprise infrastructure

Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills

Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and results-oriented mindset

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams

U.S. Citizenship required and must be able to pass a Public Trust background check
