Job Title: General Manager
Location: Burbank, CA (On-site)
Salary Range: $160,000 - 190,000
Job Description:
We are seeking a hotel General Manager responsible for overseeing the daily operations of all departments within the hotel. This role ensures optimal guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, financial success, and compliance with company standards and policies. The General Manager provides strategic direction and leadership to the hotel team and fosters strong relationships with guests, employees, ownership, and external partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day hotel operations and staff assignments; develop and communicate departmental strategies and goals.
Enforce and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
Recommend and/or implement staffing decisions, including salary actions, disciplinary procedures, and other human resources matters, in line with company policies.
Provide leadership and training to staff, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge necessary for their roles.
Develop, implement, and monitor financial and operational plans aligned with company objectives.
Department Oversight:
Front Office / Revenue / Reservations: Ensure exceptional guest service, secure transactions, and achievement of revenue goals.
Food and Beverage: Maintain operational standards and quality; achieve profit and revenue targets.
Housekeeping & Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness, appearance, and preventive maintenance programs meet brand standards.
Security: Create and maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and property.
Sales: Drive sales strategy and monitor performance to achieve financial goals.
Human Resources: Foster a positive work environment, support employee development, and ensure labor compliance.
Accounting & Purchasing: Ensure proper controls and adherence to procedures.
Maintain effective relationships with property owners and provide regular operational updates and performance reports.
Recommend capital improvements to enhance property value and guest experience.
Serve as the primary liaison for external relationships:
Guests - to ensure complete satisfaction
Owners/Principals - for status reporting and updates
Vendors - to resolve performance or delivery issues
Regulatory Agencies - for compliance and safety
Community/Media/Professional Organizations - as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration, Hospitality, or a related field (required)
Master's degree or additional hospitality certifications (preferred)
Experience:
4-6 years of progressive hotel operations or general management experience
Proven track record of leadership in a full-service or upscale hotel environment
Experience managing multiple departments such as front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, sales, and maintenance
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent leadership and team management skills
Strong financial and business acumen (budgeting, forecasting, P&L analysis)
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to drive guest satisfaction and operational excellence
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Language:
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Additional languages preferred (e.g., Spanish, French, Mandarin, etc.)
Other Requirements:
Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
In-depth understanding of hospitality industry regulations and safety standards
Knowledge of sales and marketing principles related to hospitality
Familiarity with labor laws and HR practices in the hospitality industry
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
Capable of lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds
Comfortable use of computers and office equipment for extended periods
