Department Overview

The Director, Data Engineering (Menu Data Tech Portfolio Lead) drives the strategic alignment, development, and delivery of high-quality, scalable data products to enable data-driven decision-making and maximize business impact. The Director, Data Engineering (Menu Data Tech Portfolio Lead) oversees Data Tech Product Leads and development pods (incl. Data Engineers, Scrum Masters, Testers, and Data Architects), serving as the technical SME to align data product solutions with business goals. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality data products that empowers the organization to make data-driven decisions.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

+ Manage and mentor Data Product Leads, ensuring alignment with portfolio priorities and strategic objectives

+ Develop and maintain a technical roadmap that aligns with business goals, guiding product development and feature enhancements

+ Act as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for development squads, providing guidance on architecture, design, and best practices

+ Establish and oversee quality standards for data products, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and reliability requirements

+ Develop strategies for scaling data products across the organization, ensuring solutions are adaptable and future-ready

+ Allocate resources across development teams based on project needs and strategic priorities to maximize efficiency and impact

+ Identify and implement process improvements to enhance development workflows and reduce time-to-market for data products

+ Identify and manage potential risks in product development, proactively addressing issues to ensure timely delivery

+ Collect feedback from business stakeholders and end-users to continuously improve data products and align with evolving business requirements

+ Ensure comprehensive documentation for each data product, covering technical specifications, use cases, and performance metrics

+ Stay informed of emerging technologies and recommend adoption of tools or practices that enhance product development and delivery

+ Ensure all data products adhere to enterprise data governance standards and compliance requirements

+ Regularly report on portfolio progress, performance metrics, and project statuses to executive leadership and key stakeholders

+ Define OKRs and KPIs for EA data, analytics and AI foundations practice and drive measurable outcomes.

+ Lead highly strategic initiatives and drive key technology decision and alignment at executive level.

+ Design and develop enterprise data, analytics and AI target state architectures, standards, and specifications supporting current and future business needs.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field

+ 15+ years of experience in software engineering roles, including at least 5+ years in a leadership or portfolio management role within data or analytics engineering

+ 5+ years of AWS or GCP experience

+ 5+ years of Menu data management

+ Reltio experience strong plus

+ Strong knowledge in data architecture, cloud platforms, data pipelines, and software development best practices

+ Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and report on project progress effectively

+ Demonstrated experience in developing and managing data products or services that deliver measurable business impact

+ Expertise in the areas of model architecture, data engineering, data governance and ML engineering

+ Experience with all facets of architecture and engineering including application development, platforms, infrastructure, security, and deployment. Experience delivering large-scale cloud-native solutions.

+ Exposure to an enterprise level, global technology landscape and a proven ability to establish standards and define future roadmaps for a global company.

+ Ability to partner with business and technology stakeholders to define and communicate values and outcome of new or evolving capabilities.

+ Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.

+ Systems thinker.

+ Ability to analyze complex problems from technology, business model and process, as well as organizational lens.

+ Ability to manage ad hoc demands along with organizational priorities and set realistic expectations.

+ A self-initiated influencer, and strong stakeholder management.

Salary Range

Salary Ranges-$$168,350.00 - $$218,860.00
