SUMMARY:
The Operator performs general fermentation operations functions which include, but are not limited to the following areas:
Bacterial fermentation; media preparation, inoculation, harvest, and inactivation.
Preparation for and clean up after all production operations.
Washing, wrapping and sterilizing glassware and equipment
Concurrent management of documentation.
Other manufacturing processes as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understands and practices good aseptic technique and biosecurity measures.
Perform routine, repetitive tasks with moderate to limited degree of supervision.
Performs duties according to established SOP's, production records and company safety procedures.
Concurrently completes documentation and follows established protocols.
Disinfection and Preparation work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
*Washing, wrapping and sterilizing of glassware andlaboratory equipment
*Loading/unloading autoclaves
*Disinfecting ceilings, walls, floors, furniture, fixtures and equipment,
*Fermentation manufacturing processes: Virus/Bacterial productions, participate in room and equipment preparation, process setup, inoculation, harvest, antigen processing, inactivation and disinfection.
For manufacturing roles, gowning will require changing clothing in a gender specific common area.
SHIFT: Will train and start on day shift: Primarily Monday through Friday 7 am to 3:30 PM with occasional weekends.
Once training is completed (about 3 months), shift will transition to a 12 hr night shift.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent (A minimal GPA of 3.3 in Sciences (Math, Chemistry and Biology) is preferred)
Associates Degree is preferred but not required.
Speed and accuracy of fine hand manipulation and good eye-hand coordination required.
Must be an effective member of a team and be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must possess oral and written communication skills
Important skills are organization, cleanliness, attention to detail, and ability to work well independently.
Detail oriented
Additional Preferences:
Previous exposure to aseptic technique and/or other lab sciences is preferred.
Previous fermentation experience is preferred (e.g. Brewery Brew Master, biotech fermentation, pharmaceutical fermentation, etc.).
Scientific aptitude and eagerness to learn preferred
Other Information:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clean room environment may apply.
**Candidates or workers who own birds at their personal property or have come in contact with birds within the last 48 hours are not permitted at the Winslow, Maine facility.
Candidates who come in regular contact with any kind of birds are ineligible for this assignment.
