Job Title: Masters-Level Substance Abuse Therapist Counselor
Location: Extra Mile Recovery Mantachie, MS (just outside of Tupelo, MS)
Position Type: Full-Time, Residential Treatment Setting
Reports To: Clinical Director
Job Summary:
Extra Mile Recovery is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Masters-Level Substance Abuse Therapist to join our dynamic team in a residential treatment setting for our men's campus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in addiction counseling and be committed to providing comprehensive care to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive, client-centered environment, helping individuals on their journey to recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions to residents struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team.
• Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate the needs of clients and develop appropriate treatment goals.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other modalities as appropriate.
• Monitor and document clients’ progress, ensuring treatment plans are updated as needed.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, medical professionals, and support staff to ensure holistic care.
• Provide crisis intervention and manage behavioral issues as they arise in a therapeutic setting.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with ethical and legal standards, including HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
• Participate in regular supervision and case reviews to ensure quality of care.
• Assist in facilitating educational and therapeutic groups on addiction, coping skills, and relapse prevention.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling (M.A./M.S.), Psychology (M.A./M.S.), or a related field.
• Licensure as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or other equivalent mental health credential preferred, or eligibility for licensure.
• At least 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, preferably in a residential treatment setting.
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic practices for addiction and mental health disorders.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to ethical standards and compassionate care.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with dual diagnosis (substance use and mental health disorders).
• Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) or other substance abuse-specific certifications.

Extra Mile Recovery is a residential addiction treatment program for women and men. However, this location is our men's campus located just outside of Tupelo, MS in Mantachie. We are a JCAHO-accredited 12-step program focusing on healing from the inside out. Our program incorporates 12-step immersion with intensive clinical therapy while specializing in chronic relapse via adaptive information processing and trauma therapy utilizing EMDR and other modalities. While experiencing a private, secluded environment, Extra Mile uniquely incorporates 12-step immersion with intensive clinical therapy while specializing in chronic relapse and trauma therapy utilizing EMDR and other modalities.
The Extra Mile opened as a men's residential addiction treatment facility in October of 2017 and our growth has led us to need more individuals to help our clients that are suffering from addiction. We are hoping to add a counselor soon to become a new member of our family and continue our mission of helping as many people as possible!
