Job Summary:
Codes and abstracts outpatient, or ES, or OBV, CDU, WC, or SDS, ENDO records, for the purpose of reimbursement, research and compliance with federal regulations utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT 4 classification systems.
Essential Job Duties:
Identifies and codes outpatient, or ES, or OBV, CDU, WC, or SDS, ENDO records for the purpose of reimbursement, research, and compliance with federal regulations using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems.
Reviews all OP orders for Medical Necessity
Performs data entry to complete abstract for billing and statistical data.
Fills in for OP or ES, or OBV, CDU, WC, or SDS, Endo and Medical Necessity coders when necessary.
Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
Completes other duties assigned by Director of Medical Records, Coding/Clinical Documentation Manager and Medical Record Supervisors
Qualifications
Job Specifications:
Education: Requires RHIT, RHIA or CCS
Experience: Prefer at least 5 years acute care coding experience. Previous experience working with 3m encoder desired.
