Job Description

The Engineering Manager will oversee a team of 4-5 engineers focused on supporting weld and sub-assembly for suspension components. This role involves ensuring the engineering group's efficiency, troubleshooting, hiring, and serving as the primary communication link between departments within the engineering team and the automotive plant. The role is hands-on, involving the management of new and incoming line launches, timeline facilitation, and schedule coordination. The manager will oversee 13-14 weld/sub-assembly lines, utilizing Panasonic welders and Fanuc material handling robots. Responsibilities also include maintaining Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), machine availability, and addressing customer concerns.

Responsibilities

Manage and lead an engineering team focused on suspension components.

Ensure smooth operation of engineering processes and troubleshoot issues.

Facilitate the launch of new and incoming lines, managing timelines and schedules.

Maintain Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and machine availability.

Address and support customer concerns.

Serve as the main point of communication between engineering departments and the automotive plant.

Essential Skills

Engineering management experience.

Process improvement and problem management skills.

Development and training of engineering teams.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

3-5+ years in engineering management or lead role.

Experience in automotive manufacturing, welding, and robotic welding.

Assembly process expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of engineering management or lead experience.

Experience as a Senior Engineer or Lead Engineer, with skills in training other engineers.

Automotive experience.

Preferred experience with weld robots and automated welding and assembly.

Work Environment

The work environment is based on a 1st shift schedule, with hours that may vary depending on project demands. The facility, particularly the suspension area, can be warm and dirty. Employees may be required to sit or stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. The role requires flexibility to work 45+ hours per week, including weekends and holidays, and being reachable by phone as needed. This position is on the suspension side, focusing on shocks and struts. Up to 5% domestic and international travel may be required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $54.00/hr.
