Description:

This position performs engineering work involving field data collection, project inspections, assisting in the development and review of plans and drawings, administration of construction and development activities as well as drawing and mapping using AutoCAD and Arc/GIS and maintaining database records on automated systems. Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to communicate tactfully with the public in person and on the phone. AutoCAD and ArcGIS/ESRI software platform experience preferred. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and four years of progressively responsible related experience required for Engineering Tech III; High school diploma or equivalent and three years of progressively responsible related experience required for an Engineering Tech II, or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. (Job assignment will be based on qualifications.) Requires a valid Missouri driver's license. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six months of hire.

Engineering Technician II $20.95 - $31.43

Or

Engineering Technician III $23.05 - $34.58

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles, practices and standards of surveying and drafting. Skill in applying mathematical concepts and principles. Skill and ability in recordkeeping, spreadsheets, filing, computer applications related to work, and general office practices. Ability to read and interpret construction and development plans/drawings. Ability to read, understand, and apply regulatory codes like the City Code, MDNR regulations, and AWWA standards.

Physical Requirements: Hand dexterity to operate personal computer and other equipment related to job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use of hands to handle, finger, or feel, and to reach with hands and arms.
