A key client of Appleton Finn is looking for an electrical estimator in the Fresno area. This position involves preparing detailed cost estimates, submitting bids, drafting segments of contract proposals, and engaging with clients, vendors, engineers, architects, building authorities, owners, contractors, and subcontractors. The estimator will define project scopes, evaluate design alternatives, and price all field change orders to ensure competitive and precise bids.

Primary Duties:

Demonstrate expertise in estimating intricate electrical construction projects across industrial, commercial, medical, and educational sectors while enhancing the capabilities of the estimating team.

Continuously refine estimating processes, protocols, tools, and staff development to uphold rigorous quality assurance and control for all estimates before client delivery.

Exercise sound judgment in reviewing and interpreting bid documents to establish the scope of work, independently crafting effective estimating strategies and bid approaches to secure projects within budget constraints.

Collaborate extensively with vendors, suppliers, general contractors, clients, and internal teams to address and resolve challenges during the design and pre-bid phases.

Foster a culture of excellence by motivating team members to achieve high performance and pursue ongoing professional development.

Possess comprehensive knowledge of the electrical construction life-cycle, from initial design to project completion, particularly for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.

Apply advanced estimating methodologies and interpret digital cost data and systems with precision.

Demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and McCormick estimating software.

Exhibit resilience and determination, thriving under pressure and quickly recovering from setbacks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years in electrical estimating).

Familiarity with standards such as NEC, NFPA, UL, and ISA as they pertain to design and documentation.

Knowledge of area classification requirements for design and documentation purposes.

Expertise in wiring techniques, including color-coding, sizing, de-rating, and insulation classifications.

Ability to read, interpret, and optimize one-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, layout drawings, and wiring diagrams.

Proficiency in Bluebeam estimating software.
