Our client is currently seeking a Controls/Automation Engineer for their facility near Bethlehem, PA.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement electrical automation control strategies using Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC platforms, HMI interfaces, VFD drives, and advanced motion control systems.
Research, prototype, and recommend emerging control and sensor technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency and performance.
Manage capital project budgets, ensuring clear communication with leadership and adherence to project schedules.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout development, launch, and ongoing refinement of automation programs.
Act as a subject matter expert in automation systems, providing technical leadership and guidance.
Design, program, and integrate robotic pick-and-place and assembly systems.
Develop control logic strategies and user interface applications for automation solutions.
Create detailed schematics for control system configurations, wiring layouts, equipment panel designs, and Bills of Materials (BOM) using AutoCAD.
Oversee system startup, integration, and debugging of automated systems.
Develop system documentation and training programs to support operational excellence.
Generate cost estimates for control system integration, collaborating with suppliers, integrators, and internal teams.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Electronic.
4+ years of experience leading electrical and advanced controls design for automated production systems.
Expertise in programming and configuring Rockwell/Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC, Factory View HMI, and CIP/Sercos-based motion controls and VFD drives.
Advanced experience in designing and developing complex electrical systems and BOM using AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
Strong troubleshooting skills in packaging, assembly, and process control systems.
Proven experience in designing and configuring industrial networking systems, including DeviceNet and Ethernet.
Deep understanding of PLC debugging and control software applications.
Knowledgeable in analog communication configuration and integration between industrial devices.
Comprehensive knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes and their application in automation systems.
Ability to safely work with high-voltage systems, including 460 VAC 3PH circuits and 35KV power for ITM and preventative maintenance.
Availability to support manufacturing equipment troubleshooting across all shifts.
Flexibility to travel and work weekends or holidays as needed based on project demands.
