Design, test, and commission custom switchgear and generator control systems
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, develop and build, Low and Medium voltage switchgear for generator paralleling applications.
Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them while considering industry regulations and NEC, UL 508, UL 891,UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements.
Provide directions to purchasing and procurement.
Provide directions to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings.
Support production during equipment manufacturing.
Write and validate PLC code for generator control systems, interfacing with various communication protocols.
Execute and support the design, test, manufacture, and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that controls multiple generators which parallel to one or more utility sources.
Provide directions to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings for generator paralleling switchgear controls.
Interact with internal and external customers, accomplishing project milestones.
Create a bill of materials for generator paralleling switchgear controls in ERP system.
Create PLC programs for control of generator paralleling switchgear.
Execute multiple projects simultaneously.
Design, test, and commission control systems. i.e. systems with different PLC controllers in the same system, experience interfacing, designing controls with different manufacturers
Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms.
Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them to design platforms while considering industry regulations and requirements
Customize PLC software and hardware templates
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Associate’s degree in engineering, electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering or related with 7+ years’ experience.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering or related with 5-7 years’ experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC 61131 PLC Programming languages i.e. Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text or any other PLC programming language.
Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum, M340, M580, AB Control, Compact Logix, Woodward MSLC, DSLC, Easy Gen, and LS5 Architecture.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Understand in detail the applicable NEC, UL 508, UL 891, UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls.
Understand protective relays, their functions associated with Generator, and Utility protection applications.
Familiar with the design philosophy, operation, and control of complex PLC based systems.
Excellent business and commercial skills.

Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Expert ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
