POSITION SUMMARY: The Military Sales Manager is directly responsible for generating and executing a comprehensive business development strategy focused on domestic and foreign militaries, and strategic military OEMs. The Military Sales Manager will also generate sales through consultative selling. The Military Sales Manager must be technically minded in order to understand a customer’s needs and then use that information to recommend the best product to satisfy those needs. The Military Sales Manager must have the ability to gain confidence and build credibility to convince customers that our company provides the best solutions to their test and support equipment requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Devise a comprehensive business development strategy with the following segments:

Domestic militaries (Air Force, Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Air National Guard)

Foreign militaries (via US Government FMS as well as directly with foreign militaries)

Strategic OEMs (Primes such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, as well as component OEMS such as Eaton, Collins, etc.)

MRO companies who are focused on military work

Oversee Bauer’s execution of the above mentioned military business development strategy

Develop key relationships in support of generating sales opportunities and/or collaborate with outside sales representatives evaluate sales opportunities

Communicate directly with customers to understand their needs and project requirements

Determine technical solutions, working with our engineering teams as needed, to determine best solutions to meet customer needs

Recommend pricing strategy for each opportunity, and review cost estimates for proposed solutions

Review and submit technical proposals and commercial quotations

Participate in establishing priorities for opportunities based on win probability

Collaborate closely with engineering to develop standards for technical proposals and cost estimating

Effectively utilize CRM tool for information and productivity

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Consultative selling experience and excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a results driven, team oriented environment

Experience with a specific sales methodology and sales funnel management

Capacity to assume increasing responsibilities over time

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent

Military background or previous experience working with Military preferred

7+ years of related sales experience

Previous experience in engineered products and capital equipment preferred
