Our client is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join their team and sit out of one of the four Virginia offices. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing and executing complex water management initiatives, ensuring sustainable solutions for water treatment, quality, and conservation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental regulations, advanced engineering techniques, and a passion for creating environmentally responsible outcomes.
Day to Day:
Lead teams to create engineering designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, solid waste facilities, etc. Designs will be of moderate to high complexity to meet client project requirements.
Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Sign off on completed designs and ensure firm policies and practices are followed.
Perform site reviews and studies as needed to ensure designs align with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary.
Perform water quality analyses and modeling.
Develop white papers and technical design documentation for new or special case designs and studies. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing in technical journals.
Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposals (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices.(
Meet with current and potential future clients to review their design needs. Attend conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services. Act as a point of contact for external clients and related industry contacts. Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management as necessary.
Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff. Mentor junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm. Supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
Must Haves
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
(PE) license
10 YOE - 15 YOE
Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulation
